Memorial Memorials - There Are Many Lovely
Options
By Jennifer Akre
When you hear of a pet memorial, what do you think of?
Likely you think of a marker or Upright that has been
dedicated to an animal that brought a family many years
of happiness. Maybe you are thinking of something that
is done in remembrance of a pet. These are both good
answers.
These days there are actually three very popular types
of pet memorial that can be a way for you to remember
your favorite pet after he or she is gone:
Actual Pet Memorial
An actual pet memorial can come in a number of forms. It
could be a tombstone that you place over your pet in a
pet cemetery that has a picture of them or at least
their name and their birth date. This type of memorial
is one that many purchase for their fully loved ones
these days when they lay them to rest after a life of
love and devotion. With the understanding by many that
pets are a major part of the family, there has been an
increase in the popularity, and therefore the kinds of
pet memorials that can be purchased.
Others choose to make their own pet memorials that are
more personalized such as a hand made cross with the
pets name written on it or a wreath that has been
created just for the memory of their pet.
Virtual Pet Memorial
In addition to a physical reminder of your pet, like a
tombstone, there are a number of virtual memorials out
there where you can remember your pet and share memories
of your good friend with others.
There are a growing number of websites that allow people
to leave virtual memorials to their pets. You can post
pictures, write a story about your pet, or just share
the memories you have that you think others would enjoy.
This is a great way to help you get through the pain of
the loss of a pet, as well as share great times you had
with him to others.
Volunteer Pet Memorial
One of the best ways to pay homage to your pet is to do
something in memory of your pet. There are any number of
animal groups that can use help in doing their jobs. Why
not volunteer your time in the name of your pet?
Consider all the organizations that could use your help
like your local humane society. Not only do they need
donations of food, bedding and other pet supplies that
you could donate in the name of your pet, but you could
also volunteer your time. Humane societies need help
grooming and caring for all the pets they take in on a
daily basis. While your pet may be gone, you could use
your time to give attention to other pets that have been
abandoned and bring a little brightness into their lives
as a way to show your appreciation for all the
brightness your pet brought into yours. A quick call to
your local humane society will give you plenty of ideas
for ways you can help out in your pet's memory.
