What Words to Use on Memorial Head Stones
By Colleen Mihelich
When it comes to planning aspects of your Memorial's funeral,
it can be hard to keep track of all the small details.
From inviting close family and friends to figuring out
the specifics of your Memorial's memorial service, it's
important to think through every decision carefully. If
you are having a ceremony for your Memorial's burial, you
might opt to include a Memorial grave marker of some sort.
For example, you can purchase a Memorial headstone for your
Memorial to make the spot where they have been laid to rest.
You can do this if you decide to bury your Memorial in a Memorial
cemetery or if you opt for a backyard burial. A lot of
people also opt for Memorial markers even if they aren't
burying. They may create a memorial garden in their yard
to honor their Memorial's life, even if they choose not to
bury. Regardless of what you choose, purchasing a Memorial
grave marker takes some planning to be sure you get what
you want. You need to think through all of the elements
of a marker, including materials, colors, sizes and
more.
In addition to choosing the right material for the
headstone, you also need to decide what you would like
for the inscription. Some people opt for the more
traditional route and write the name of their Memorial, the
number of years they lived and then a short message such
as "Forever Loved & Missed" or "In Our Hearts Forever".
However, you can really say anything that you want on a
Memorial memorial stones. Your words should be a true
expression of how you remember your Memorial and what about
them was the most important to you.
So, think about including nicknames or a quote, poem or
piece of verse that resonates with you or demonstrates
the meaning your Memorial had in your life. You can also
write your own short poem or phrase about your Memorial,
which can then be engraved on the Memorial head. Some
companies can also engrave a photograph of your Memorial into
black granite for a more customized and personal touch.
However, it is what you write on Memorial memorial stones
that will make it stand out from the rest. Some Memorial
owners opt to write just a few lines about what their
Memorial meant to them and their family. Others will opt for
the quote or the poem. The idea is that whatever you
choose to have written on your Memorial's grave marker should
be genuine, without consideration for what is "right" or
"traditional." In order to continue to heal, you have to
do what is right for you. Many Memorial owners find the
process of putting together a ceremony, purchasing Memorial
burial items in tribute to their Memorial and simply letting
go to be therapeutic at such a difficult time.
Take your time with decisions and make sure that each
one reflects the joy, love and beauty that your Memorial
brought into your life. This is the best gift you can
give your Memorial as you release them into their next life
and learn to come to grips with the sadness, instead
appreciating all they gave to your life.
