Why Modern Funeral Arrangements Are
More Popular Than the Traditional Ones
By Zoltan Zongora
The moment that everybody is afraid of eventually comes,
no matter how much we dread it. A person dies and the
ones the are here to stay have to deal with their grief,
pain and organizing the memorial service and the
funeral. Organizing the funeral is one of the most
complex, difficult and cost intensive experience a
family can have.
Traditional memorial services are based on a history
loaded with using complete services that include
chapels, viewing rooms with an embalmed body that people
are viewing in an open casket. Yet modern ways to do a
memorial service seem stripped off from all the extras
and the there is no viewing, but rather the casket is
closed used only for burial and cremation. Instead of
having lots of people at the service, now the preferred
method is to have only close family and friends with a
secular service rather than relying heavily on religious
traditions. Everything becomes simpler nowadays and as a
result, cheaper.
When a traditional service is used, everything has to be
paid for, regardless whether all is used or not. The
most important part that influences how much you pay is
the choice of the casket. These days, however, you can
find customized options that include different services
that don't require printing services or a full memorial
program. When a funeral memorial program is used it can
cost a family up to thousands of dollars and not
everybody can afford that.
Here are a few differences between traditional and
modern funeral arrangements:
Previously body embalming happened automatically. Now it
is by choice. If the body should be embalmed, it bears
an additional cost
Before, funerals were held in churches and later on in
funeral chapels. Nowadays private funeral services can
be held in any location chosen by the family
Obituaries with details about the deceased were printed
in major newspapers, which could become quite costly
depending on where they were printed. Now these are by
choice and the departed person's life history doesn't
need to be printed, making printing more cost effective
Burial was the main option and cremation was very
expensive due to the fact that it was done only in major
city centers. This meant that the body had to be
transported to the cremation center. Nowadays cremation
is available almost everywhere, making it the preferred
option for many. This avoids having to buy a grave or
monument, which can be very costly as well. Cremation
also allows several family members to be buried in one
location without the need to actually buy a new plot for
each individual
Now people can choose between a religious or
non-religious funeral, between viewing or no viewing,
between a public funeral or one that has only family and
friends around, and the family now can choose the
service location as well
Having the freedom of so many options while at the same
time leaving out the unnecessary, is much easier and
more cost effective on the family of the deceased to
organize a funeral, leaving them more time and space to
grieve in peace.
If cremation is the method of choice to bury your loved
one, you need to choose between beatiful urns for ashes
that will keep the memory of your deceased alive
forever. Memorable keepsake urns are perfect for storing
the cremated remains in your home when the rest of the
ashes are to be buried. |
