Choosing a Headstone

Not many people like to address the topic of death, but
unfortunately it will happen. Perhaps you won't have to
think about your own passing but you may very well have
to address that of a loved one. Of course this then
comes with a vast amount of responsibility and can be
the cause of a great deal of stress.
A situation like this brings up a great deal of
questions that need to be addressed. For example, what
type of service would he/she have liked? What songs
should I use? And of course, what type of memorial
headstone should be selected? These are all valid
questions and there is no straight answer.
So these next few paragraphs will look at the various
materials available for a headstone. Addressing the
benefits of the materials and why that might be a
suitable choice.
Granite Headstones
This is a very suitable material mainly due to it's
durability and long lasting monumental material.
Choosing this usually results in a maintenance free
headstone and is available in a range of colours.
However due to the durability of the material it does
making carving in to the surface a little harder yet
designs can be etched in to the surface.
Marble Headstones
Sometimes made from Italian white marble this material
provides a softer surface than granite and is ideal for
sculpture as well as carving. Obviously marble is a more
porous material there is usually a level of care
required over the headstone through time, yet good
memorial care services offer maintenance that can
address this issue.
Cremation Stones
A nice way to mark the position where the cremated
remains where scattered or buried of a loved one.
Usually available in a wide range of designs these
cremation stones can usually be produced according to
most dimensions given.
Figures
An additional option that is usually quite popular is
that of the a figure. A nice Angel symbolising looking
over a loved one is a thoughtful way to celebrate a life
that has meant so much.

loved one in a fashion that is respectable and
