Funeral Urns Or Cremation Urns - Which
Do You Need?
By Chris Schopf
There are many costs that accompany the passing of a
loved one. Bills must be paid for any medical care as
well as costs for a fitting memorial. The price can
become very intimidating, especially when the family has
enough burdens to bear in dealing with the emotional
stress. Know your options and make sure you do not
overspend on a cremation urn when you really need a
funeral urn.
Cremation urns are used in a number of different ways.
Some families prefer to keep the ashes of their loved
one with them. In this case, a quality cremation urn
should be purchased, intended to permanently house the
remains. These urns can be displayed for years and
longer.
On the other hand, many families prefer to still give
their deceased loved one a burial. This could be a
literal burial or a scattering of remains.
When scattering the ashes, you will still want to
purchase a funeral urn. This will be used for display
during any memorial services (unless a cremation casket
is preferred and cremation is done after the end of
services). It will also be used as a temporary holder
for the ashes until they can be taken to the desired
location and scattered.
The big difference here is, a funeral urn does not cost
as much as one that is intended for permanent use.
Rather than spend more than you have to on the urn, save
money that can be applied in other areas of the memorial
service.
Funeral urns look just as tasteful and stunning as other
cremation urns do. Just because they are not intended
for long term use does not mean they are sub standard or
less appealing. In fact, many are adorned in as much
intricate detail as other varieties.
You can still find the perfect memorial container that
fits the departed's personality or says something about
their life. When using a funeral urn, you will do this
without spending as much.
Funeral urns might be a better choice for your loved
one's memorial service. If you do not intend on keeping
the ashes, then do not raise the total costs of the
funeral by purchasing an expensive cremation urn.
Instead, buy one that will look tasteful and serve the
same purpose during the memorial service, without the
same cost.
